However, the lastyears have seen major advances in the detailed understanding of the organisation of active sites at the atomic scale, the elementary steps in reaction paths, the periodic tendencies for activity and selectivity in relation to the main reactions, the interactions between active nanoparticles and alumina supports, and so on This newly acquired knowledge has stimulated or opened the way to new methods of preparation, resulting in a continual enhancement of performance FigureIFP Energies nouvelles has been, and will continue to be, very closely involved in this area of work, since the development of clean fuels has been identified as one of its strategic priorities, against a background of constantly increasing demand This demand will have to be met with crude oils which are
