A masterful telling of the first half of his career, warts and all Like most memoirs, you won t recognize a lot of the names mentioned, but the story is still riveting and the gossip is as good as you d expect There is a slight wistfulness about opportunities missed whether investment or collaborative , which, considering his successes, is a little off putting, but he wanted a truthful story, so that can be forgiven by the reader All in all, an amazing look at an amazing theatrical career. Please, please, please write a follow up

Started sex young with his 16 year old girlfriend and first wife , had the full support of his family for a musical career father the head of a major music school, mother a gifted piano teacher, brother a great cellist , had his first successful musical at 19 Joseph , has had access to scores of beautiful women from his shows and appears to have taken full advantage of their availability , and is today a billionaire His memoir is like his music you can t put it down, and parts of it are terrific, yet at the end you feel somewhat manipulated Still, it s a great read highly recommended.

Interesting but wordy In the Epilogue even he author admits that his verbosity got the better of him and he hints at a volume 2 To this reader, few, if any details about his life were omitted This book is of interest to the casual theatre go in that it shows the work involved in putting on a musical from writing lyrics and music, finding vocalists, the proper venue, etc At the same time he goes into detail about the disagreements that crop up between the back stage people.

Very interesting autobiography of Andrew Lloyd Webber, the fantastic creator of so many wonderful musicals I loved learning about his personal life and his creative process I didn t understand some of his British terminology, but I m sure Brits will enjoy it The business aspects of the music business slowed the narrative down a little for me, but overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and learning the background details of Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, and The Phantom of the Opera.
